Edward Penfield

AP 038

The Stearns cycle company was founded in Syracuse NY in the 1880s and quickly established a reputation for quality bicycles in a booming market. Popularly known as the 'Yellow Fellow', this model became a best seller. This stylish image by Edward Penfield is typical of his freely drawn style, and echoes the manner of the best French posters of the period.
