The 'Black Prince' cyclecar, circa 1920

Photographer Unknown

VP 063

The Black Prince cyclecar was produced in limited numbers in Barnard Castle in the early 1920s. Characterised by simple construction and rudimentary mechanics, it nevertheless helped introduce accessible motoring to an increasing market. Only two examples remain, one of which is in The Bowes Museum collection. A rather basic photograph, but of considerable historical interest.
