David Bruce-Brown, French Grand Prix 1912

Photographer Unknown

VP 144

A wonderfully dramatic photograph of American driver David Bruce-Brown and his Fiat S74. Bruce-Brown led the field for much of the race but was disqualified after 700 miles for refuelling away from the pits. Bruce-Brown was killed three months later after crashing in a practice session for the 1912 American Grand Prize, the final Grand Prix of the season. He was 25 years old.
