Wynch Bridge, Bowlees, Teesdale, circa 1890

Elijah Yeoman

YB 037

This picturesque suspension bridge is reputed to be the earliest of its type, and was constructed in the early C19th when a previous bridge collapsed. It crosses the Tees at Low Force waterfall and was originally used by local lead miners. A lovely quality image with attractive linear patterns in the water caused by the long exposure.
