Clarence Kingsbury (1882- 1949) - GB – Kingsbury competed in the controversial 1908 final of the 1,000 Metres Match Sprint which The Sporting Life declared a “fiasco”. The race was declared void because the time limit was exceeded after the leading riders employed waiting tactics that slowed the pace to crawl. Kingsbury went on to win gold for Great Britain in the 20,000 metres race.
